A unique rotating windshelter for Campbeltown, Scotland.
Lighthouse Glasgow design project.
Part of COMMON-PLACE
The brief of this project was to design a suitable place of shelter and congregation for young people within this Scottish West coast town. This winning design concept was initiated from design workshops comprising of 6 teams of artists, architects and local youngsters. What was identified from these workshops was the necessity to design a structure which would not only provide shelter but would also protect against the prevailing wind in any direction. In order to do this the team of Calum Stirling & Greg white worked on designs which would allow any user of the shelter to orientate themselves away from the weather by being able to push the structure around a 360 degree axis point.
